Plastic parts for food technology

Food Technology

More and more people are gaining access to industrially produced food. Our plastic parts help to produce and process these food products in very high quantities according to exact specifications (weight specifications, etc.).
Unlike medications, people tend to consume food unconsciously. Therefore, high demands are placed on the component as well as on the plastic material in this area, such as :

  • rounded edges and high surface requirements to clean parts,
  • high dimensional stability to produce weight-accurate and high quantities,
  • EU 10/2011 and / or FDA conformity to obtain legal certainty

Stricter guidelines regarding conformity, migration and traceability apply in particular to components that come into contact with the product.

We have many years of experience with the requirements of this industry and therefore guarantee our customers finished parts that conform to drawings and the highest level of legal security. Very early on, with the introduction of our FoodGrade (FG) product range, we adapted to the requirements arising from Regulations (EC) 1935/2004 and (EU) 10/2011. We offer a wide range of materials that meet the requirements of EU Regulation 10/2011 as well as the US FDA Regulation. The basic aim of both regulations is to prevent substances from migrating from the plastic material into the product.

Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 and (EU) No. 10/2011

When ordering, we require the indication that the product is to be manufactured in accordance with the requirements of EU Regulation 10/2011. All process and manufacturing steps at our company and also at our suppliers are controlled, documented and carried out within the framework of Regulation (EC) No. 2023/2006 – Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

You will receive a certificate confirming FG conformity with all TEPLAST FG products upon delivery. This lists the material-specific migration values (OML and SML), data on the manufacturing process and traceability. This means that all TEPLAST FG products are 100 percent legally compliant and EU-compliant.

FDA (US Food & Drug Administration)

FDA-compliant plastics are classified as compliant by the semi-finished product manufacturer over a longer period of time. So if you choose an FDA compliant plastic for your product, we can also issue the FDA declaration of compliance afterwards. Traceability is not a mandatory part of FDA.

In the field of food technology, plastics are mainly used that have the following properties:

  • FoodGrade (FG) Plastics acc. Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 and (EU) No. 10/2011
  • FDA compliant plastics
  • antibacterial plastics
  • metal and multidetectable plastics
  • colored plastics (blue)
  • good chemical resistance – resistant to many cleaning agents
  • Laser marking possible – Traceability
  • High dimensional stability
  • low moisture absorption
  • no lubrication necessary
  • Laboratory and analytical technology
